Damaged and brittle hair: how to repair it
Hair becomes damaged due to chemical treatments (bleaching, coloring, perms, straightening), heat (hair dryers, straighteners, curling irons), the sun, and overly vigorous brushing. Typical signs include dry ends, breakage, dullness, porosity, and difficulty detangling.
Restructuring routine
- Gentle restructuring shampoo: shampoo for damaged hair.
- Mask with every wash or at least 1–2 times a week: restructuring masks.
- Conditioner when not using a mask: conditioners for damaged hair.
- Leave-in: serums, oils, and leave-in treatments to seal the ends.
- Heat protection before using a hair dryer or straightener: thermal protectors.
Hydration, nourishment, or reconstruction?
- Dry and coarse hair: needs hydration and nourishment (nourishing masks, hair oils).
- Hair that is elastic and gummy when wet, and prone to breakage: needs reconstruction (protein or keratin-based treatments and bond/plex technology).
- Alternating between the two types of treatment helps maintain balance.
Bond (plex) treatments
"Bond building" treatments act on the internal bonds of the hair weakened by bleaching and coloring. They are used both in the salon during technical services and at home for maintenance. See our professional plex additives.
Helpful habits
- Detangle wet hair starting from the ends, using a wide-tooth comb or a detangling brush (brushes).
- Lower the temperature on hair dryers and straighteners.
- Trim split ends regularly: once they are split, they cannot be "fused back together."
Pre-paired routines: sets for damaged hair.

Frequently asked questions
Can split ends be repaired?
Restructuring products and serums improve their appearance and prevent further breakage, but ends that have already split must be cut.
Is it better to use a moisturizing or reconstructing mask?
If your hair is dry and coarse, choose a moisturizing or nourishing mask; if it breaks and feels elastic when wet, you need reconstruction. It is often beneficial to alternate between them.
What are plex treatments?
These are treatments that protect and rebuild the internal bonds of the hair, used during and after bleaching and coloring.
Is a thermal protector really necessary?
Yes: it reduces heat damage from hair dryers, straighteners, and curling irons and should be applied to all lengths before styling.
