Natural waves should be encouraged, not flattened. That is why the Ondulados Inc line by LOLA includes a texturizing cream in its styling range dedicated to wavy hair, to provide shape and movement without stiffness.

Apply it to damp hair after removing excess water with a microfiber towel: distribute a small amount through the lengths and then "scrunch" the strands from the bottom up with your hands to encourage wave formation. Let air dry or use a diffuser, without touching your hair too much while it dries. If the waves have loosened the next day, a little water and another scrunch will help revive them.
